This computer coding program (Appalachian Coding Camp) is for all high school students, including rising 9th graders and also those that are about to graduate high school.
Rural Up has partnered with Prosper Appalachia and Awesome Inc to deliver coding camps in the Kentucky Promise Zone region this summer. Our week-long camps will teach high school students the basics of coding, help them hone their skills, prepare them for the 21st century workforce, and guide them in figuring out a career path that they can thrive in and enjoy.
In just one week, students will design and develop their very own website, mobile app, and video games. Our instructors will work with students to build a portfolio, complete projects, and work with industry-standard hardware and software. We will also provide students with the opportunity to engage with real life coders and entrepreneurs who are making a difference in their communities.
At Appalachian Coding Camp, students will:
Create a video game, website, and a mobile app in one week
Build a foundation of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Construct 3, and Thunkable
Think like a computer with logic and gates
Analyze how programs work and how code functions
Develop computational thinking skills
Most importantly, HAVE FUN!
