We would like to congratulate Harlan Elementary School student Audree Mills! She is the overall county winner of the 4-H Art Contest. She received a blue ribbon for first place in the classroom, a blue ribbon for county winner, a green ribbon for participation, a $50 gift card for Walmart, and a 4-H medal. HES recently hosted an event in celebration of World Health Day, in collaboration with 21st Century, PRI, Mrs. Wilson, FRYSC, and the 4-H Extension Office. The event was aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle for students and families. The attendees were treated to a variety of wellness lifestyle presentations, a yoga class, and a presentation on MyPlate. In addition, the students got the opportunity to create their MyPlate crafts. We are grateful for the partnerships that made this event possible and the opportunity to encourage healthy living among our students and their families. 🍽️🍎🍊🍌

The official announcement will take place at 1:30 PM on Friday, April 26th, 2024, in the Harlan High School Library. The new head coach brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to fostering both athletic excellence and personal growth among student-athletes. Their leadership is poised to elevate the Harlan High School football program to new heights. Members of the media and the community are invited to attend the announcement event, which will be held at 420 E. Central St. Harlan, KY 40831, beginning at 1:30PM. There will be an opportunity to meet the new head coach and hear their vision for the future of Harlan High School football. Great News!! We have resolved our plumbing and water issues and will operate on a normal schedule for tomorrow April 19, 2024. All Harlan Independent Schools will be on their normal schedules for Friday, April 19, 2024.

The Harlan Elementary School Derby Day celebrations will be on Friday, April 26th. 🐴🧲 🍳The annual HES Derby Breakfast will be served for 3rd and 4th grades. 🌹🐎Kindergarten through 2nd-grade students will participate in our 4th Annual Run for the Roses Derby race! 📸Parents may begin lining the streets downtown at 12:00. We look forward to seeing our students dressed in their Derby best and running their races for the roses! 🌹 👒🎩
